Introduction to blacksmithing – Steak Flipper

This three hour hands on class will introduce you to blacksmithing and working with hot iron to make useful objects. You will learn techniques like drawing out, bending, twisting, scrolling, and more to create a steak (or chicken or vegetable) flipper to take home with you. We will also cover correct hammer technique, and use of anvils, vises, and tongs.

These grill flippers are fabulous to use and make it so easy to flip food on the grill! You can use them to flip anything that you can poke with the sharp end. I use them for chicken and vegetables like peppers and zucchini…..(yes, one of the photos is me flipping a strawberry!).

The class is open to students of all skill levels and each class is limited to 6 students. Please note that classes are co-ed unless otherwise indicated.

Expect to leave with basic forging skills and the knowledge needed to forge hot steel. If you have prior experience this class will help you refresh your skills.

Tuesday and Thursday classes meet 5.30pm-8.30pm and Saturday and Sunday classes meet 10am – 1pm

The price includes a $20 materials fee.

This class will take place in The British Blacksmith forge located at
8477 Pools Brook Road
Kirkville NY 13082

The forge is 20 mins east of Syracuse NY and easy to get to from all locations it is close to I-81 and the New York Thruway I-90.
